"Our Festival will go as planned, and you — our much valued festival friend — will enjoy a safe and fantastic time."
Following the catastrophic floods and deaths that ex-Cyclone Debbie has caused in Queensland and northern NSW, Bluesfest organisers have announced that despite the "turbulent few days" they will go on business as usual.
With only ten days to go ahead of the Easter blues extravaganza, a statement reads, "It's been a very turbulent few days weather wise and we hope that you are okay, after Cyclone Debbie caused some heavy flooding on the coast! Our hearts reach out to all of you who have been affected."
Organisers cite that a lot of weather proofing has been erected at the festival's site, Tyagarah Tea Farm, over the years and that the Byron area did not "get the level of rainfall that other near-by areas experienced". They've also assured that the campgrounds have "not been damaged".
They state, "Our Festival will go as planned, and you — our much valued festival friend — will enjoy a safe and fantastic time".
