More The Flaming Lips More The Flaming Lips

Frontman to the colossal juggernaut that is The Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne has announced the release of his first ever comic book, an adults-only psychedelic fantasy in full-colour.

Titled The Sun Is Sick, the comic has been marketed with a blunt warning to parents to steer children (and even some adults) away from Coyne's first offering in the comic book world, instead appealing to music collectors and fans of Coyne's art and adult comics.

Those who are interested better get in quick, as a limited number of copies are to be sold at this weekend's San Diego Comic Con before online sales through The Flaming Lip's official website – where they are expected to be out the door pretty fast.

In other recent Lips news, the band are currently on a worldwide tour, joined on part of the journey by Perth psych rockers Tame Impala, and Coyne himself has been in the studio with veteran DJ and musician Moby, recording a track called The Perfect Life for Moby's forthcoming record, Innocents.

The Sun Is Sick comic will preview on Wednesday 17 July on Paste Magazine's site, and check out the cover art.
