The dance is peaking and, if you're gonna do it, now is the time.
Go down to the club on the weekend and there's a good chance you're gonna see a bunch of people Twerkin' it like there's no tomorrow. What does that mean? Allow this lovely young lady to show you…
We love dancing here at theMusic.com.au and we like to keep our moves fresh as possible. We know as well as anyone that these dances tend to have a pretty limited shelf life though, so you need to strike while the iron is hot. Miley Cyrus has already shown us her abilities as far as the dance goes.
Given urban music legends like Busta Rhymes and Pharrell just dropped a song in tribute to the dance, it has probably hit its peak now and it's not going to last much longer.

They're far from the first to talk Twerkin' in song; V.I.C. was all over the shit a year ago.
But we think it's hitting its popularity peak right now…
You see, dances don't have the kind of shelf life they used to; while doing the Nutbush is still okay and doing the Twist is actually quite cool, no one wants to see you do the Gangnam Style, Harlem Shake, Macarena dances anymore – they're so disposable.
Here are five dances that we wish we could still do while appearing cool, but they're, like, so dated now.
The Dougie
While Doug E Fresh is said to have come up with the inspiration for the dance called the Dougie originally, it was first formalised by Dallas rapper Lil Wil on his 2009 hit My Dougie.
Inglewood, California's Cali Swag District released the fucking awesome Teach Me How To Dougie tune in 2009 after adopting the dance from its origins in Dallas.
Then it got real famous. Basketball players started doing it:
The First Lady of the United States started doing it:
Even the Aussies got involved; Digby Ioane from the Queensland Reds celebrating a key try in the 2011 Super Rugby final with the dance.
Jump On It
Actually, this one is surely due for a comeback… The song is Apache by the Sugarhill Gang; a cover of the Incredible Bongo Band's song of the same name. But the dance was popularised when Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro performed it in this episode of The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air back in 1996.
Will's not the only member of his family to have started a dance craze though; his pre-teen daughter completely showed him up a couple of years back. We'd have included Whip Your Hair in our list, but we can't do the dance.
Laffy Taffy
Okay, so some people consider this to be one of the worst songs of all time, but you can't deny that it provides a pretty good opportunity to bust some serious dance floor moves.
Jerkin'
NOT to be confused with Twerkin', Jerkin' is so 2009, but didn't we have a good couple of months with it. Sadly the cartilage in our knees has never been the same since and apparently some of us are lucky to be walking. But we looked so cool for a couple of weeks there.
Stanky Legg
Okay time to get serious. DO NOT do the Stanky Legg in a nightclub in 2013. We saw someone try bringing it back a couple of weeks ago and someone actually kicked him in the shins.
If only GS Boyz knew how much pain and suffering they were to cause people when they released this questionable song way back in the glory days of late-2009.
See you in the club.
