Finalists Announced For Melbourne Prize for Music 2016

$130,000 of prize money is up for grabs

Indigenous singer Kutcha Edwards, composer Liza Lim, Magic Dirt frontwoman Adalita Srsen, folk musician David Bridie and jazz saxophonist Joe Camilleri are among the eclectic finalists competing for the 2016 Melbourne Prize for Music awards.

The honours will go to a solo muso or ensemble whose work has made a mark in the Australian music scene and has enriched cultural and public life. 

Designed to celebrate the diversity of musical talent in Melbourne, the initiative includes two new awards this year – the $25,000 Beleura Award for composition and the $20,000 Distinguished Musicians Fellowship 2016. The total prize money up for grabs has a combined net worth of $130,000.

Public voting for the finalist of the Civic Choice decoration has also opened today, and the winners for all the categories will be announced 9th November.
