In February 2024, Melbourne tourist attraction Federation Square will be the home of live music, movies and must-do activities.

On the music front, Federation Square will host live music on Saturdays and music by candlelight on Thursdays, as well as silent films with live scores on Tuesdays and outdoor cinema on Wednesdays. It’s the place you want to be this summer.

Let’s start with Live Music Saturdays, which offers live music for free. Exclusively performing at Federation Square, BMW's Opera For All will return for a one-hour concert on Saturday, 3 February. On 10 February, an all-Kiwi line-up will perform in celebration of Waitangi Day, with chart-topping NZ sensation SIX60 headlining alongside famed exports Muroki, Ladi6 and Riiki Reid.

On 17 February, Federation Square will be the home to the inaugural Afro Caribbean Carnival, starring Saxon Sound System (UK) and UK hip-hop and drum and bass pioneer Spikey Tee (Jamaica), as well as Melbourne’s own El Gran Mono, D.I.Y. HiFi, Housewifes Choice and Heartical Hi Powa.

On the final Saturday night of February, Sampa The Great will headline the all-ages Afro hip-hop, Afrobeats, Afro-House, and Afro-pop night.

For the 2024 edition of Music by Candlelight Thursdays, punters can watch ARIA award-winning Coodjinburra artist Budjerah (15 February), Reuben Kaye (22 February) and triple j Unearthed High winner JACOTÉNE (29 February).
