Melbourne DJ and industry mover-and-shaker Grant Smillie will open a rooftop bar and restaurant called EP And LP in Los Angeles this November.

Smillie – he of the 360 agency – will team up with Swedish House Mafia, David Combes, Ashley Hart and Buck Palmer to launch the West Hollywood venture, reports Broadsheet.

Sydney-based Louis Tikaram, who is the head chef of Longrain, will be the 450-capacity venue's executive chef.

“We know full well we're up against a pretty cluttered and mature market and we want to redefine the dining culture with a design its never seen, food its never tasted and a rooftop like its never had here,” Smillie told Broadsheet.

Combes added, “There's a lot of opportunity. Thai, Malaysian and even Fijian cuisine – Louis has some Fijian heritage – that's where we think the opportunity is.”

Both Smillie and Combes relocated to LA last year.

Smillie, a two-time ARIA Award winner and Nova radio host, is also Director of Southbank Melbourne's Ponyfish Island floating bar and restaurant and the Melbourne City Brewing company.
