He produced the highest ever musical TV special
American producer and TV personality David Gest has been found dead in his London hotel room overnight, aged 62.
Found in London's Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf, unexplained circumstances surround Gest's death but it is not being treated as suspicious.
As ABC reports, Gest's friend and bodyguard Imad Handi stated, "It is with great sadness that I can confirm that David Gest has died today. David was truly larger than life. He was not just a huge talent and a dear friend but a showbiz icon."
Gest was the ex-husband of Liza Minnelli and was married to her in the early 2000s. He had appeared on Britain's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! as well as Celebrity Big Brother, and had produced the highest rated musical TV special in history with Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration: The Solo Years in 2001.

The producer was due to tour an autographical musical later this year called David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With Soul. Elsewhere, Celebrity Big Brother star Tiffany Pollard has removed t-shirts from her online webstore with the slogan "David Is Dead", a reference to a misunderstanding that happened on the show which consequently went viral.
