Mark Ronson ProfileFollowing on from a Major Fraud Squad investigation last month, the promoter that sold tickets to a Perth show that “falsely advertised” Mark Ronson would be DJing has been charged with fraud.
As WA Today reports, a 34-year-old man has been charged with three counts of fraud for the Winter Funk Fest event that was booked to go down at beachside club Matisse in WA on July 25.
Police reportedly said the man charged contacted the venue in June to book the show under the name Alfred Cove and also pretended to be two other people in order to set it up.
The show was scheduled around Ronson’s Perth Splendour In The Grass sideshow, and one the UK hitmaker had no idea about.
Fans were told just hours before the event that Ronson would not be attending due to "logistical reasons", and a Matisse spokeswoman later confirmed that all tickets to Winter Funk Fest were automatically fully refunded.
Ronson slammed the promoter after discovering the “falsely advertised” gig and promised fans who had purchased tickets free entry to his next show in Perth.
The 34-year-old promoter will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on October 1.
