Promoters of FACT Weekender's first festival at Cookatoo Island have announced the event's postponement until the 2014/2015 summer season.

A notice was posted on the festival's website and Facebook page, where "production elements" were given as the reason for the promoters not going ahead with their inauguaral boutique festival.

The notice stated: "The management team at FACT Weekender have been working tirelessly over the past few months to coordinate the event. However, production elements relating to starting up a new festival have impacted our tight timeframes and our ability to deliver a first-class weekend festival."

The festival, which boasted that it was to be "Sydney's only camping festival in the city", was set to take place on the first week of February with breaks producer Adam Freeland headlining on a bill with Coyu, Jewel Kid and Heiko Laux.

Local promoters Essential Events Management  are determined to push ahead with the Weekender in 2014, signing off their notice with the promise "See you next year!"

They also advised that tickets already purchased will be fully refunded with immediate effect.
