New Aussie-based label Greyscale Records, the brainchild of Destroy All Lines' Ash Hull and Joshua Merriel, has today launched and is already announcing its first signing, Sydney outfit Our Past Days.
With 20 years combined experience in the music industry, Hull has run plenty of his own events, as well as the all-Australian hardcore Invasion Fest, while Merriel has spent over half his life working in radio.
"Ash came to me with an idea, after we sat down and talked it out he looked at me and just went ‘We’ve got something here don’t we?'" Merriel said.
"With the Australian music scene expanding so rapidly, we knew there was a gap that needed to be filled. A gap for a label with major league goals and a DIY attitude.

"When starting up this record label, we knew we wanted to work with bands who shared the same mentality and vision. Our Past Days was the perfect first signing for us as they ticked all the right boxes, and they really supported the idea behind the label. Their album is such a diverse record and I know they’re going to be a band to watch our for."
In between touring with big names such as The Wonder Years, Our Past Days have been working on their debut effort, Keep Safe, which is set to drop on Friday, 2 September.
The band's second single Too Much Too Soon will premiere tonight on triple j's Short.Fast.Loud before they head out on the road with Harbours for a string of shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Brisbane, Sydney and Wollongong — check out theGuide for more details.
