Stay Gold indeed.
It's the heart of Brunswick and now Sydney Road will be welcoming a brand new live music venue.
The Music can exclusively reveal that Stay Gold will be launching this October, taking over the venue formerly known as The Phoenix, with a brand new band room and indoor & outdoor licenced areas.
The venue is the work of the group behind successful Brisbane venues The Brightside, Blackbear Lodge, Blutes Bar and Barbara, as well as the upcoming Good Things Festival.
"We have been looking for a great space in Melbourne for years," group director Jesse Barbera said.
"With half our company based in Melbourne, it was one of our priorities. When the opportunity came up to transform The Phoenix, we took it immediately. Brunswick and greater Melbourne generally is one of the most supportive music communities in the world and we’re very excited to join it."
"Our goal is to provide great shows, parties and events for that community on a weekly basis."

The Music got an exclusive behind the scenes look at the venue yesterday, which is currently under construction. Check it out below.
"Being a local Brunswick resident I’m so stoked to see our neighbourhood being at the forefront of the live music scene," adds booking agent Lydia Greenwood. "Brunswick has always been a cultural hub and we’re so excited to be a part of it and bring some of Australia’s best live acts through our doors."
The band room - which will be complete with a state of the art audio system - and venue are expected to open from 6 October, with the public bar and restaurant opening from December.
The venue will be kicking things off the right way with a massive free launch party on 12 October, complete with a DJ set from DZ Deathrays and more. They've also promised a super special headliner which will be announced on Monday.
