Hear selections from Spirit Of Akasha, Morning Of The Earth and Morning Of The Earth Reimagined.
Alby Falzon's 1972 masterpiece Morning Of The Earth is one of the great surf movies of all time and a triumph of Australian cinema. As well as incredible surfing footage featuring the likes of Nat Young, Mark Warren, Michael Peterson and Terry Fitzgerald, the soundtrack that accompanied it was brilliant and featured tracks from Aussie masters like Tamam Shud, John J. Francis, Brian Cadd and G. Wayne Thomas.
Spirit Of Akasha is a new film by Andrew Kidman that serves as something of a follow-up piece to the original Morning Of The Earth that, in the same tradition, features a pretty great soundtrack itself.
The likes of Xavier Rudd, POND, Angus Stone and Grouplove contribute to the soundtrack of the film, but it doesn't end there. A reimagining of the original Morning Of The Earth soundtrack has also been recorded, featuring the likes of Busby Marou and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, and the original soundtrack itself is being re-released along side it as part of a 2CD set as well.
To celebrate this, we're streaming a selection from the three records – five tracks from each – that will give you an idea of what these new (and old) records are like, before their release.

Both Spirit Of Akasha and Morning Of The Earth/Morning Of The Earth Reimagined will be released through Warner Music this Friday.
