The renowned recording hub will enlist the stalwart label as artist relations consultants
Venerated recording haunt Studios 301 will join forces with the likewise-respected Footstomp Music as part of a new partnership that will see the respected firm act as artist relations consultant for the studio as of this year.
The new deal will see the multi-faceted Footstomp — the brainchild of founder Graham Ashton, offering services branching from management to label support and artist development — help steer Studio 301, which has premises in Byron Bay and Sydney, in terms of matching promising artists to the behind-the-desk personalities and facilities best-suited to their purposes.
"[Studios 301 is] basically wanting to bring outside entities in to help them bring musicians in to record and persuade musicians to get their mastering done there," Ashton told theMusic.com.au. "I guess, because of the nature of what we do … we work with lots of different artists from all over the world and we have lots of different conversations about the creative process, and when the initial discussions came up, they felt we'd be right for it."
"It's more about the creative process than a straight sales thing," he continued. "Our role is to try and match the right artists with the right producers or mastering and engineers."

Footstomp's current label roster includes the esteemed likes of Busby Marou, Karl S. Williams, The Medics and Thelma Plum, but the newly minted 301 consultants will not only be ushering Aussie artists the studio's way; rather, the new deal will see the pair of companies "working closely with the Australian and international music communities", a statement about the new partnership explains.
"This will help make artistic and financial sense of the individual needs in the process of recording and mastering," it said, as well as explaining that "Footstomp have worked with hundreds of artists both locally and internationally and are in a great position to align the right artists with their artistic match in producers and mastering engineers".
Studios 301 sound masters have been responsible for releases such as Vance Joy's Dream Your Life Away, 5 Seconds Of Summer's self-titled full-length, Andy Bull's Sea Of Approval, DZ Deathrays' Black Rat and DMA's Laced/So We Know single, among several others.
"I have been hoping to align Footstomp with a studio since our inception and with some good luck and good timing we are stoked to be working with the best in the business," Ashton said of the new partnership, with Studios 301's general manager, Anthony Garvin, adding: "At the core of 301 is a passion for helping musicians and songwriters bring their art to life.
"Together with Footstomp, we are excited to be helping a broader range of artists make great records."
