Impulse Entertainment invest in digital space
Entertainment product wholesales Impulse Entertainment [IE] have acquired online music retailer MusicShop.com.au, giving the petrol station and convenience store specialists a strong foothold in the digital marketplace.
Brisbane-based IE specialise in stocking music and film CDs and DVDs, headphone hardware and toys to 'roadhouses' around the country, and following the acquisition will look to revitalise MusicShop.com.au.
“The Music Shop has a strong history with passionate music fans and we believe that Impulse Entertainment is a great place for the brand to be nurtured and rebuild its iconic status in the music retail world,” said IE Executive Director Craig Thompson.
“Impulse Entertainment is a family company and has the same passion for quality music and respect for physical product that The Music Shop brand has come to signify. Coupled with our existing logistics expertise and digital presence, we believe we can revitalise The Music Shop for the 21st century so it can remain the destination for real music lovers and enthusiasts online.”

Founded in 1998, IE have previously incorporated Satellite Entertainment, Countrywide Music and One Stop Entertainment and have a purpose-built 2,100 square metre office and warehouse space in Sumner Park.
As well as CDs and DVD, MusicShop.com.au sells vinyl, music books and audio accessories. During the brand’s 30 years existence they once had 14 bricks and mortar music stores.
“The Music Shop acquisition increases our national and international footprint and opens a new chapter in the history of Impulse Entertainment, firmly underlining our belief and passion for music,” Thompson said.
