More Ben Lee More Ben Lee

The latest single from Ben Lee’s upcoming Quarter Century Classix project has arrived, with the singer-songwriter putting a new spin on a classic from Aussie indie rock trio Smudge.

The new LP, set for release on November 22 via New West Records, features new versions of songs from Sonic Youth, The Breeders, Pavement and more, and its latest cut transforms Smudge’s Ingrown with strings and Lee’s trademark vocals.

“Smudge were one of the first local bands I started seeing A LOT as a young teen, and Tom Morgan’s songwriting skills were what I fell in love with off the bat,” Lee told The Music.

“The songs were so intelligent and funny, but also heartbreaking, melodic and absolutely effortless. Tom had the best image too - it appeared that he was able to write the coolest songs of the early ‘90s without even leaving the couch.”
