The world's largest short film festival will be inviting submissions in late October and is including an all-new DSLR-only category. Winner will receive $10k, a trip to LA and a new car!
By now an institution of sorts, Tropfest's 2013 edition is calling for entires from aspiring filmakers for their annual short film competition.
The 2013 winner is set to win $10,000 in cash, a trip to LA to schmooze with film executives and a brand-spankin' new car from the festival's latest Major Partner, Toyota. In addition to the enormous attention the winner will receive from the global film community, all Tropfest Finalists will have their work displayed to the 150,000-odd people that converge on the various screening events across Australia's major cities.
An exciting new element in this year's competition will be the introduction of the new DSLR film category, in which all entries must be made entirely on a DSLR camera. The category will showcase the versatility and capabilities of video recording technology in DSLR's and will give filmmakers a new, exciting and accessible outlet to express their creativity.
Tropfest is as much about creating films as it is about showing them. All Tropfest entires must be therefore made specifically for Tropfest and be first screened there. And in accordance with a long-standing festival tradition, they all must contain the Tropfest Signature Item, which this year is "Balloon". That's not so hard, is it now?
