News recently broke that Australia’s most pretentious (it’s what makes them so good) band- Empire of the Sun will be playing their first ever live shows on the Parklife tour later this year, but fans of frontman Luke Steele’s original outfit The Sleepy Jackson shouldn’t expect new material any time soon.

In an interview with UK tabloid The Sun, the notoriously precocious vocalist confirmed his focus is now on what was once considered a side-project. “I suddenly realised I had guys from Sleepy Jackson on a payroll every month and they weren’t really doing anything,” Steele told the paper. “I decided to move away from that for now.” Steele also gave some insight into what to expect from the band’s first-ever live performances at Parklife. “It’s more than just about the music, it’s a huge theatrical event,” he gushed. “Lots of colours, fireworks and beautiful costumes. I’ve been watching Kylie Minogue and U2’s tour DVDs for inspiration. It will be like a feature film with a narrartor between scenes.”
