More Stepson More Stepson

Ascendant Brisbane outfit Stepson have a brand new single to show off in the thunderous Come With Me, and they're setting off on a sizable eastern run from late next month to do exactly that.

Joined by their mates in Stateside, the four-piece will kick off at Casino's Royal Hotel on Friday 28 July, before being joined by Aburden and storming through Brisbane (two shows), Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne, where they round out with back-to-back showings at Bang! (18+, sans Stateside) and Wrangler Studios (AA, minus Aburden).

The furious, frenetic new tune builds on what's come before through the band's three EPs to date, the band's three-year journey having seen them grow as songwriters and live performers as they've chalked up slots alongside scene-mates such as Ocean Grove, Hellions and Storm The Sky as well as international heavyweights like Counterparts, Title Fight, Capsize and While She Sleeps.

Come With Me's video clip is an affecting juxtaposition between the band crushing out the tune and a narrative of loss and depression, a reflection of the song's introspective, heartfelt lyrics.

"Come With Me is about the constant self-deprecation you face when you think you aren't good enough for some one you truly care about," vocalist Brock Conry explained in a statement. "For me, personally, I thought I was doing the right thing but the extent of what I created was ultimately the worst thing I could've done. I've always been one to ignore issues, particularly to do with my own feelings, but little did I know it is quite possibly the worst and most harsh things you can do to a person that cares about you.

"The permanent fear of not knowing whether or not you're good enough for someone who has treated you with nothing but love and respect is completely horrifying and I do not wish it upon anyone. In turn, I loved and lost someone due to my constant push and pull, and this song is about how I felt during that very trying time."

The song itself — which is officially released today — was produced by Callan Orr at Avalanche Studios, with drums recorded by Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove). The clip was directed by Adrian Eyre and Splat Studios.
