And we need to listen up
It's been a huge point of discussion of late, particular led by Keep Sydney Open's Tyson Koh who reckons appointing a night mayor like Amsterdam may be the answer to NSW's problems. Now, with the announcement that Electronic Music Conference 2016 (EMC) will be bringing Amsterdam's night mayor Mirik Milan to Sydney as a keynote speaker, we'll be able to pick his brain for wisdom ourselves.
Having held the position since 2012 and driving Amsterdam to be the bustling, vibrant and safe city it is today, Milan will be speaking on how other countries can implement similar solutions to their own cities to balance the priorities of all parties who play a part in a city's nightlife.
Erin Flanagan, EMC's programmer, says, “We believe Milan’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable in our own city’s pursuit of a vibrant and safe nightlife. Amsterdam has shown us and the rest of the world that it is possible to achieve this."
Milan will deliver the opening keynote for the five-day conference held at Sydney's Ivy Complex, boasting a slew of electronic music showcases, keynote speakers, panels and more.
