The King is coming down under.
A huge Elvis Presley exhibition featuring a number of beloved items of clothing, vehicles and memorabilia are coming to Bendigo, Victoria next year.
The latest feature in the successful Bendigo International Collections series, 300 individual items that belonged to The King Of Rock N Roll will go up at the Bendigo Art Gallery, in a new exhibition entitled Elvis: Direct from Graceland.
Items of significant note include Presley's '68 Comeback Special jumpsuit, a 1976 Red Bicentennial Custom Harley Davidson, and both the suit worn by Presley and dress worn by wife Priscilla on their wedding day in 1967.
"Landing this exhibition is a major coup for Bendigo and Victoria and thousands of Elvis fans will be marking the dates in their diaries right now,” Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said of the event. “Whether people come for the jumpsuits, the Harley or just to celebrate one of the great figures in recent history, the benefit will extend to cafes, restaurants and hotels across the region.”
Bendigo Art Gallery director Jessica Bridgfoot also shared her excitement for the exhibition, adding, “We are so excited to be able to bring this iconic collection to Australia – the latest in an international series of exhibitions that pay homage to style icons including Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Balenciaga and Mary Quant.”
Elvis: Direct from Graceland runs from 19 March - 17 June 2022.For tickets and further event info, head to the website here.
