'The Red Shoes' is a rare specimen of highly personal pop rock
Now that she's no longer tied down with work on the recently axed Spicks And Specks revival series, former Killing Heidi frontwoman – and acclaimed music personality in her own right – Ella Hooper has announced the release of her “anthemic” new single The Red Shoes, with a pair of exclusive launch shows to back it up this July.
The Red Shoes, a deceptively personal and introspective pop-rock ditty that draws upon the Hans Christian Andersen tale of the same name, will drop on June 20, and is to be the next single – after 2012's Low High and last year's Häxan – from Hooper's forthcoming debut solo album, In Tongues.
She'll be officially launching the track at album preview/single release shows at Sydney's Newtown Social Club on Thursday, July 17, and Shebeen, in Melbourne, on July 18.
Tickets are available via the venue's websites.
