The government of Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, has banned all major electronic music festivals in the country following a number of drug-related deaths at a recent event.
According to The Guardian, five people died from drug overdoses at the German-founded Time Warp festival held earlier this month, while another four festival-goers were taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Buenos Aires mayor Horacio Rodriguez Larreta said the call will stand until city legislature approves a law to prevent drug abuse during these festivals or events.
Five people at the festival were also arrested, after witnesses claimed that punters were being offered drugs that included ecstasy, LSD and cocaine.
The news comes just days after a 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital in a critical condition after an alleged overdose at Australia's Groovin The Moo festival.
