Due to circumstantial differences and a "lack of direction", Perth's Dropbears have announced tonight that they will be calling it quits.
From their typical metalcore days to their much more recent 'aggressive nu-hardcore' sound (which is actually an apt description), it was always going to be interesting to see where Dropbears would go next. Alas, that won't be the case now.
The group's show next Friday with Havoc at Perth's Amplifier Bar will be their final show. You can read the band's break up statement below.
"We are sad to announce that the show next Friday at Amplifier will be our last as a band.Due to changes in personal circumstances and a slight lack of direction we have decided that we can no longer give Dropbears the attention it deserves. We have made lifelong memories and met incredible people through this band that we never thought possible when starting out in a danky studio in Jandakot (Much love Snowy!). Having the opportunity to play across the whole country and witness the rise of now huge names in the scene first hand has been extremely rewarding and we hope that Perth's AA scene returns to its former glory.
To anyone who dug our tunes or ever checked us out at a show thank you and if you want to do it one last time we'll be at Amplifier on Friday July 19th. Hopefully we can sign off the same way we signed in with good vibes and a party to match. If you have an old favourite you'd like to hear let us know, we may bring along a few surprises and last but not least peace bogai!DB out"
And I didn't even get to see them live! Damnit!

Well, I don't know about all of you, but I'm gonna miss those sweet tunes and tight grooves. I'll now leave you with what was arguably the band's best song - 'Companion (This One's For Me)'.
