More Drapht More Drapht

Veteran Australian hip hop vanguard Drapht has announced a significant run of headline shows in honour of his imminent new full-length, Seven Mirrors, which is set for release in just less than two weeks.

Following the arrival of the album — Drapht's fifth overall, and first new LP since his broadly acclaimed 2011 release The Life Of Riley — on Friday 19 August, the West Australian rapper will hit the road from Thursday 6 October, when he gets under way on the east coast at Mooloolaba's Wharf Tavern. The headline sojourn — which includes locales less visited such as Tasmania and the Northern Territory — also boasts appearances at The Triffid, Brisbane; Metro Theatre, Sydney; Club 54, Launceston; Granada Tavern, Hobart; 170 Russell, Melbourne; The Gov, Adelaide; Prince Of Wales, Bunbury; Capitol, Perth; Discovery, Darwin; and Gap View Hotel, Alice Springs.

Those shows won't be your only chances to see Drapht in the near future, however; the Seven Mirrors tour is bookended and punctuated by a raft of upcoming festival and other show dates, too, including appearances at Magnums Hotel in Airlie Beach (Thursday 25 August) and Gladstone's Harvey Road Tavern (26 August) in addition to events such as the Gold Coast's Shakafest (27 August), Newcastle's THIS THAT Festival (Saturday 5 November), Strathpine's Park Sounds Festival (Saturday 12 November), and next year's Summernats event in Canberra, which runs from 5-8 January.

In amongst all that activity, Drapht will be letting Seven Mirrors take hold among the masses. As an album with intensely personal roots, the rapper had a wealth of material to choose from, ultimately culling 24 songs down to the record's final 12-strong track list but finding the entire process the "most enjoyable" yet.
