Dr DreRap mogul Dr Dre has issued an apology to the women he assaulted years ago, after years of very vaguely and rarely discussing the incidents in the wake of the victims speaking out about their exclusion from the recently released NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton.
As the New York Times reports, the 50-year-old producer said in a statement that he "deeply regrets" the incidents which include the assault of journalist Dee Barnes at a record release party in 1991.
"Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life," Dre said.
"However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I've been married for 19 years and every day I'm working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I'm doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again."
"I apologize to the women I've hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives."
Interestingly, it was revealed last week that the 1991 incident was originally written in the NWA film, but was later omitted due to time restraints.
Meanwhile, Straight Outta Compton has continued to dominate the US box office, taking out the #1 spot for a second week running.
