'Doctor Who' World Tour Sydney Date Revealed

14 July 2014 | 12:18 pm | Staff Writer

The final, full season-eight trailer has arrived as well

Aussie fans will be among the first in the world to see the premiere episode of Doctor Who's eighth season when the Doctor Who World Tour brings show stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman to the Sydney State Theatre for a one-off fan event on Tuesday, August 12.

Announced only a few hours after BBC released the final, full trailer for the sci-fi phenomenon's forthcoming eighth season, the evening will serve as a chance for fans to get up close and personal with the man behind the brand new Twelfth Doctor, and feature an exclusive Q&A hosted by veteran broadcaster and long-time Whovian Adam Spencer.

The session will also boast a special screening of the eighth season's feature-length premiere, nearly two weeks before it airs in Britain.

Have a peek at the full and final trailer for season eight below, which further hints at the troubles that await the enigmatic Twelfth Doctor (Daleks, Cybermen … dinosaurs), who – as postulated previously – all but openly admits that he'll be cut of a considerably darker cloth than awkward Eleven (Matt Smith) or jovial Ten (David Tennant).

The Doctor Who World Tour is a worldwide introduction to Capaldi's Doctor, who arrived on the scene briefly at the conclusion of last year's Christmas special following Smith's departure.

It takes Capaldi and on-screen companion Coleman to seven cities on five continents in twelve days, kicking off in the show's home city of Cardiff on August 7 before touching down in London and Seoul before reaching Sydney, and going on to New York and Mexico City to finish up in Rio de Janeiro on August 19.

Pre-sale information is available via the World Tour's site. General-release tickets will be available via Ticketmaster from 11am (local time) on Monday, July 21.
