DJ Killed Following Stage Collapse At Brazilian Music Festival

Festival release statement.

A DJ has been killed and three others injured after a stage collapsed at Brazil's Atmosphere Festival.

As Mixmag reports, fan-footage captured from the Esteio event shows the stage buckling and collapsing due to strong winds in front of 5,000 punters.

30-year-old DJ Kaleb Freitas was rushed to hospital after suffering critical head injuries from the collapse, however he died soon after arrival.

An official investigation has reportedly been launched after the festival went ahead despite severe weather warnings of "gale-force winds and torrential rain".

Atmosphere organisers have since issued an official statement.

"We always cherish the security of our audience, following all the processes, reports and authorisations requested by the local authorities," the statement reads.

"And to our audience we will keep them informed of all our actions to keep the truth about the facts that have occurred.

"We're sorry, we lost a friend, an artist. Our priority is to assist the wounded and their families. We thank the military brigade and the fire department for all assistance."
