Podcast fans unite!
Podcast creator Christopher Goffard is bringing a live show to Australia to discuss all things Dirty John.
The true crime podcast shot to the top of the Apple podcast charts, with more than 10 million downloads in just a six week period.
The podcast tells the story of Debra Newell, an interior designer in California, who meets and quickly marries a man called John Meehan, who she met through an over-50's dating site. She's quick to discover Meehan isn't exactly as he seemed and that, in fact, he's harbouring a dark and potentially deadly secret.
Surprisingly, Dirty John is Goffard's first ever podcast. A veteran reporter for the Los Angeles Times, Goffard spent nearly a year putting together Dirty John, and says that "something about John Meehan chilled me in a way nobody else has."
Goffard will be visiting Australia in March 2018 to share a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Dirty John. As well as a live Q&A, attendees will also be treated to new details that didn't make it onto the podcast.
"Making Dirty John became an all-consuming obsession for me," says Goffard. "I’m looking forward to coming to Australia and sharing some stories about how it came together and why I think it's penetrated the zeitgeist."
