More Dave Grohl More Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl has certainly been keeping himself busy, today announcing a brand new film project less than a week after announcing his debut book.

The Foo Fighters frontman has shared the first trailer for his upcoming film, What Drives Us.

The documentary is directed by Grohl and focuses on  "the rock ‘n’ roll rite of passage" of touring in a van.

"This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music," said Grohl.

"What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of ‘why? What drives us?’"

What Drives Us features interviews with big names like Ringo Starr, The Edge, St Vincent, Slash, Flea, Lars Ulrich, Ben Harper, Brian Johnson and more.

The documentary comes off the back of two very successful film and television projects for Grohl; 2013's Sound City which looked at the history of Los Angeles' Sound City recording studio and Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways in 2014, which was made concurrently with the group's eighth studio album of the same name and looked at the histories of different "music cities" around the US.

What Drives Us will be available on Amazon Prime Video (outside of the US) on Friday 30 April. Check out the trailer below.
