More Dami Im More Dami Im

In our second ever year at the song competition, Brisbane's pop songbird Dami Im has taken home a very respectable second place at this year's Eurovision 2016, losing out by just 23 votes to Ukraine's Jamala.

As TV Tonight reports, Im was the European jury's favourite with 511 votes, but all in all Jamala's song 1944 took out the competition with 534 votes, while Australia's jury and public voters had voted Belgium's Laura Tesoro with What's The Pressure highest.

This year, Eurovision took on a controversial new voting method that weighed the juries' votes equally with the televoters in a 50/50 split.

Eurovision's Grand Final Live premiere early on Sunday morning achieved a huge increase this year, with preliminary figures showing 302,000 people tuned in to watch, up from 263,000 last year. It suggests that more people were keen to watch live so they could put in their votes. Conversely, the evening rerun suffered a huge drop from 592,000 last year to 407,000 this year.

The Voice on Nine Network still pulled the highest viewers with 1.36 million viewers on Sunday evening.
