The Castlemaine-bred singer-songwriter is hitting the road to support his debut full-length
Acclaimed Aussie muso D.D Dumbo — Oliver Hugh Perry to the taxman — is setting off for a six-date run of shows in support of his lauded debut album, Utopia Defeated.
The tour also boasts the extra-special element of being his first headline tour with a full band; following their opening outing in Brisbane, at The Triffid on Saturday 10 June, D.D Dumbo heads to Sydney, Thirroul, Ballarat, Melbourne and Perth, finishing up a little over two weeks later at the Astor Theatre on Thursday 29 June.
Utopia Defeated landed in October last year after months of building hype around the multi-talented musician, nabbing feature album slots on a slew of radio stations here and internationally, as well as glowing reviews from a metric tonne of outlets.
He picked up the 2016 triple j J Award for Australian Album Of The Year, scored two spots in the Hottest 100 (#44 and #47, for Satan and Walrus, respectively), was nominated for the Australian Music Prize (ultimately won by A.B. Original's history-making Reclaim Australia) and was shortlisted as one of the artists in the running for the APRA Song Of The Year.
