CW Stoneking's Long Lost Banjo Has Reappeared On Ebay

"Here's my tenor banjo, still in the case my friend made for it, and with the blue, red, & yellow ribbons still tied to the headstock."

Bluesman CW Stoneking is sure to be experiencing some solid nostalgia today, as a banjo he lost eight years ago in the back of a New York cab has reappeared on eBay.

Posting about it on Instagram, Stoneking writes, "Back in 2008 shortly after recording the Jungle Blues album I did a small solo tour in the USA, going home after a show in New York City I forgot to take my dobro guitar and tenor banjo out of the trunk of the yellow cab I was riding in and both instruments sailed off into the night.

"Well, here's my tenor banjo, still in the case my friend made for it, and with the blue, red, & yellow ribbons still tied to the headstock."

He tells fans he has no desire to buy it back from the New York seller who has put the banjo up on eBay, saying he considers "the loss to have been a 'sacrifice to the gods'".

However, a number of thoughtful fans have offered to band together to buy the banjo back for Stoneking, using the hashtag #reclaimthebanjo, though Stoneking says, "seriously I don't want it back, be good if a fan got it though so it can keep on collecting some history".

If you're keen to buy the well-loved banjo yourself, you can bid on it here.

Wow! Back in 2008 shortly after recording the Jungle Blues album I did a small solo tour in the USA, going home after a show in New York City I forgot to take my dobro guitar and tenor banjo out of the trunk of the yellow cab I was riding in and both instruments sailed off into the night. Well, here's my tenor banjo, still in the case my friend made for it, and with the blue, red, & yellow ribbons still tied to the headstock...it's currently for sale on Ebay....I have no desire to re-aquire the instrument as I consider the loss to have been a 'sacrifice to the gods' but any of you out there want the banjo that's on my first 2 albums you can get it on Ebay...the price is quite high....I paid $80 for it when I was 18 years old. I wonder if the Dobro will also re-appear... #cwstoneking #windsorbanjo #tenorbanjo #ebay #dontgodancin #jungleblues #thelovemeordie #richmansblues #earlyinthemornin #thegreatestliar
