Brisbane venue Crowbar is exercising a far greater degree of restraint than is arguably warranted in the search for two individuals who allegedly entered the venue's band room on Saturday night and severely damaged its wall, giving them 24 hours to come forward before facing further action.
The heavy-music haven was hosting a headline show from Rockhampton outfit Pandamic, when the unidentified pair were allowed into the band room before they apparently damaged it and took a photo for posterity on the street.
"We had a really great show on Saturday night with Pandamic," a post on the venue's Facebook page explained. "Unfortunately these idiots made their way into the band room with someone with access, smashed a hole in the wall and took a photo out the front of the venue with wall in hand.
"This really sucks for the bands and for the venue as we have to call in trades [sic] to fix these holes when all we do is provide a safe and fun platform for bands and punters to enjoy a night out."
The venue's reps said in their post that they are aware of the pair's identities, choosing to blur out their faces in the accompanying photo, which appears to show them holding a piece of the broken wall as well as a crumpled gig poster.
The venue has seen a surge of support on their post, with commenters offering unanimous condemnation of the pair's alleged acts and many suggesting the day-long grace period was being too kind given the damage done.
Regardless, the clock's ticking — here's hoping those at fault own up to their actions. As plenty of punters have noted, it's hard enough for live music spaces as it is without these sorts of unnecessary costs.
There's a simple solution, of course: just don't be a dickhead.
