Dirtbombs, Dirty Three and Spiritualized members join Berlin incarnation of the Australian-born band.
Simon Bonney announced late last year that he would be reforming his seminal post-punk band Crime & the City Solution for a new album and a tour in 2012 and today more details about both have surfaced.
The band – who formed in Sydney in 1977 – existed in different incarnations in Sydney, Melbourne, London and Berlin until their eventual split in 1990. Bonney went on to base himself in the United States after the band broke up and released a couple of solo records in the 1990s with more of an Americana bent.
Recent years have seen Bonney base himself in Detroit and it is from there that he announced the reformation of Crime & the City Solution. The new incarnation of the band will feature three members from one of the band's Berlin-based line ups - Bronwyn Adams (violin) and Alexander Hacke (guitar) and Bonney – and joining them will be renowned visual artist Danielle de Picciotto, Jim White (drums, The Dirty Three), David Eugene Edwards (guitar, 16 Horsepower/Wovenhand), Troy Gregory (bass, Dirtbombs/Swans/Spiritualized) and Matthew Smith (keyboards).
The first step in the reformation is the release of a compilation by the name of An Introduction To… Crime & the City Solution / A History Of Crime – Berlin 1987 – 1991 before the band unleash their brand new album American Twilight early in 2013.
