Jack Bruce, bass player with psychedelic '60s supergroup Cream, has died at his home in Suffolk at the age of 71.
Bruce was already a highly regarded blues rock musician before he formed Cream with Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. He'd had successful stints with both The Graham Bond Organisation, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Manfred Mann.
Cream formed in 1966 and split up just two years later, having sold over 35 million records. Bruce co-wrote the band's most famous song Sunshine Of Your Love.
Bruce's death comes after a long period of living with liver disease — he was first diagnosed with liver cancer in 2003.
In the years after Bruce underwent liver transplant surgery he continued making music, including taking part in Cream reunion gigs.
He most recently released the new studio album Silver Rails in March this year.
