UK label Cr2 launches in Australia thanks to a deal with Kontor.

The UK-based Cr2 Records is set to open a local Australian office in what will be a joint-venture entry into the Australian market with fellow European label Kontor Records.

The debut release of Cr2 Records, Nicky Romero's Se7en has enjoyed chart success in Australia, finding itself in the top three of the ARIA Club chart.

Based in Germany, Kontor have enjoyed large successes with the likes of Scooter, ATB and Martin Solveig in the last ten years. With their backing, Cr2, formed in 2004 by Mark Brown, hope to have an impact on commercial radio through their trademark club singles.

The announcement of the venture also indicated that they'd be looking at expanding into other dance and pop areas with names like Snoop Dogg, Akon and Pitbull.
