Courtney Barnett Has Been Working On New Material For A While

“I’m kind of just writing with no final thing in mind.”

More Courtney Barnett Courtney Barnett

Not that the impact of her debut LP is losing any momentum, but Aussie singer-songwriter turned global super star Courtney Barnett has revealed she is working on material for a follow-up release.

Barnett's debut LP, Sometimes I Sit And think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, has topped charts around the world and amassed fans from almost everywhere, including a strong adoration from the US where a string of talk show performances really sealed the deal.

In a backstage Coachella interview, Barnett said she had been writing since her debut dropped last March, although no exact plan had been laid down for the sophomore effort.

“I’ve been writing since the last one,” Barnett said when asked about a new record.

“I’m not very good at having goals or timelines, so I’m kind of just writing with no final thing in mind.

“A lot of the new songs I haven’t even shown the band yet. I’m still trying to write them and I get in a bit in a vulnerable time, so I get nervous showing them to anyone in case they think they suck.”

Barnett keeps the festival vibes going when she hits Splendour In The Grass this July, alongside The Cure, The Strokes and more.
