Campaign launched to raise money.

A respected music video producer and director is in a critical condition in hospital after being shot during a robbery on Sunday.

As WKYT reports, Coleman Saunders, who has worked with bluegrass artists such as JD Shelburne and Sundy Best, was jumped by three men after getting out of a taxi in Lexington, where he was also robbed and shot by the attackers.

Lexington police are still looking for the three suspects.

"His work is extraordinary, I have never had a guy put so much effort into a video to make it such a great final product," Shelburne said of Saunders.

"We've become friends more than a business relationship. I hate that this happened to Coleman...just sounds like a wrong place wrong time situation."

Shelburne and Saunders were reportedly set to work on a new music video next month.

Earlier today, a GoFundMe page was set up to help pay for Saunder's medical expenses.

In just 13 hours over $4000 has been raised with a target set at $10000.

"With our unwavering support and excellent hospital care, we know he will overcome the many obstacles he is facing on this long road to a full recovery," a statement on the page reads.
