Pantera fans can finally purchase the band’s iconic albums on picture disc vinyl for the first time, as Rhino Records is releasing a five-LP box set on Friday, 21 July. Pre-orders are available now.
Only 3,500 copies of The Complete Studio Albums 1990-2000 – Cowboys From Hell (1990), Vulgar Display Of Power (1992), Far Beyond Driven (1994), The Great Southern Trendkill (1996), and Reinventing The Steel (2000) will be available via the Rhino and Pantera websites.
The box set arrives in a year when Pantera are actively touring. Alongside vocalist Phil Anselmo and drummer Rex Brown, guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante complete the current touring line-up.
In December, Pantera played their first shows in 20 years. Filling the shoes of the Abbott brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul is a tall order, but the current line-up honours the original groove-metal pioneers.
While Anselmo couldn't sound like he did in the 90s in 2022, his vocals held up remarkably well. You can check out the band’s first performances back here. From August until November, Pantera will perform at select dates on Metallica’s M72 tour, as well as go on a huge headline tour with Lamb Of God across the US.
Tragedy has struck Pantera twice since their initial breakup, with the tragic onstage death of Dimebag Darrell in December 2004 and the passing of his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul in June 2018.

The members had all remained active, post-Pantera, with Dimebag forming Damage Plan with whom he was playing at the time of his shocking death and Vinnie Paul playing in HellYeah.
Anselmo has also been involved in numerous projects, most notably, Down, while Brown has been a member of Kill Devil Hill and has released a solo record.
Pantera are one of the most recognisable names in metal. Formed in 1981 in Arlington, Texas, the band developed a stomping, groove-driven blend of 'southern metal' that has gone on to influence the sound of modern metal.
The band's three record run of 1992's Vulgar Display of Power, 1994's Far Beyond Driven and 1996's The Great Southern Trendkill is considered by fans to be their finest work. The band were the recipient of four GRAMMY Awards for Best Metal Performance.
