It's perhaps very little surprise that Christmas albums will dominate the ARIA Charts this week, and that is indeed what midweek figures are indicating.
Michael Buble's reissue of Christmas (Warner) is an odds-on favourite to retain top spot on the Albums Chart, but Rod Stewart's Merry Christmas, Baby (Universal) has been a bullet performer so far this week. The latter charted at seven this week and has peaked as high as six in its six weeks in the chart this year – it will crack the top five next Sunday and maybe even challenge for the top.
Pink's The Truth About Love, One Direction's Take Me Home and Guy Sebastian's Armageddon appear to be a last minute gift favourite, all performing strongly so far this week.
The ARIA Singles Chart battle is once again between Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz's Thrift Shop and will.i.am feat. Britney Spears' Scream & Shout, with both battling for top spot according to the midweek figures. The remainder of the current top five – Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble, Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin's Don't You Worry Child and Bruno Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven – will all be there or there abouts as well.
