The Christian Music Conference has announced its return to APRA AMCOS in 2027 after a successful inaugural event earlier this year. The first of its kind in Australia, the event welcomed DSPs, publishers, labels, radio programmers, touring professionals, marketers and more to the one-day event, exploring the fast-growing genre.

The next event will be held at APRA AMCOS in Ultimo, Sydney on Friday 5 March 2027.

Curated and founded by Australian Christian artist manager Cameron Gullo of 1606 Management, the event grew from his work across Australia and the US. Gullo says the event aims to bridge the gap between church and industry. The inaugural gathering included performances from Commons Worship, Reuben Morgan, Ben Fielding, Ethan Beer, Lucy Sugerman and Southland.

“One of the really special moments was having Delta Goodrem join us and debut her Eurovision single Eclipse in the room,” Gullo told The Music. Eclipse was co-written by Grammy-winning Christian songwriter Jonas Myrin. “That moment represented a large part of what CMC is all about: strengthening the Christian music community while also building stronger bridges into the broader Australian music industry.”

Christian music, long a staple genre in the US, is seeing a huge global surge, with American streaming numbers in the genre growing 18.5% in 2025 compared with 4.6% streaming growth overall according to Luminate data.

Christian & Gospel also ranked as the second-fastest growing genre in the USA, behind Rock. Spotify has also reported Christian music growing around 60% globally over the last five years, and in 2025 Brandon Lake and Forrest Frank became the first Christian artists in 11 years to have Christian songs charting simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100, while also both charting Pollstar top 10 USA tours in 2026.

“We’re seeing Christian music show up in increasingly broader spaces, as next-gen listeners continue to resonate with the hope contained within the lyric,” explained Gullo. “A younger, streaming-native audience is finding the music through playlists, social media and the culture, and artists are breaking through across pop, hip-hop, country, alternative and worship. For the first time, Christian music is increasingly playing in the same spaces as all genre markets.”

Here in Australia, the Christian radio charts celebrated their 27-year anniversary earlier this year and the country is the second biggest English-speaking market for Christian music per capita.

With Australia as a key export market, Hillsong has become the biggest and most influential Christian music entity in modern history, but Australian artists like for KING & COUNTRY, The Newsboys, Rebecca St. James, Darlene Zschech, Planetshakers and many more have put the country on the map, making us an influential territory shaping the past, present and future of the genre.

“In ten years, I believe we’ll see more young Christian artists in Australia build sustainable world-class careers from here, without feeling they have to move to the USA to make it happen,” said Gullo. “That is really the heart of the Christian Music Conference, to Grow the Genre and Advance the Gospel.”

The Christian Music Conference is on March 7 with tickets on sale now.
