Chris Whitehall, vocalist of Australian indie rock band The Griswolds, has been accused of sexual misconduct by two separate women.

Over the weekend, both women shared their stories on social media and alleged they were 16 and 17 respectively at the time of their exchanges with Whitehall. The singer was accused of sending sexually explicit images and messages through social media and texts, as well as grooming.

"Chris sought me out because I was especially vulnerable," one of the statements reads.

"I was naive, emotionally malleable and he knew I looked up to him. He abused the power he held over me. I will not allow him to continue to use his platform to prey on those who don't know any better. I will no longer keep his secrets."

Whitehall responded to the allegations on Monday in a statement, in which he said that "the statements I have read are true".

“There is zero excuse for my behaviour, the things I have done and the way I have acted is terrible and I’m’ not going to make any excuses," Whitehall's statement reads.

"I want to confront this, I want to be held accountable and I deserve to be called out.”
