Sydney scores rapper's only non-festival-related Australian appearance
Comedian-cum-rapper Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, has joined the list of Splendour In The Grass artists holding sideshows while they're in the country for the iconic three-day camping festival.
However, in contrast to most other acts playing gigs outside of Splendour, Childish Gambino fans will only have one non-festival-related opportunity to catch him in the flesh – he'll be putting on a headline show at Big Top Luna Park in Sydney on Sunday, July 27.
Childish Gambino is no doubt still riding high on the wave of praise for his acclaimed sophomore LP Because The Internet, which dropped in December last year and achieved both ARIA Top 40 and triple j Feature Album status, its cuts 3005 and Sweatpants doing great business for the rising rhymesmith.
Glover was a mainstay of cult comedy hit Community for its first four seasons, departing in the first half of the fifth to focus on other creative pursuits. It hurts to say, but it seems like it was a wise career move for the man after all.
