Do not wait for Friday to party.
Aphrodite's Favourite Lovers
They were on the cusp of being one of Australia’s top indie rock bands, but Little Red broke up in August 2012 citing musical differences.
Since then the various members have been involved in a number of splinter groups including The Hondas and Major Tom & The Atoms. The most prominent has been New Gods, which is being driven by ex-Little Red men Dominic Byrne and Adrian Beltrame. Unbeknownst to most of us, Byrne has also been busy with a new project this year – Aphrodite’s Favourite Lovers, or AFL.
A duo made up of Byrne and Bosnian-born Melbourne-based painter, filmmaker, poet and musician Saidin Salkic – sometimes known as Sai Sal or Mido. As early as April this year Salkic and Byrne have been posting tracks on YouTube, which have all gone under the radar.
The songs are lo-fi bass-heavy electro cuts that seem to be harking back to the early Chicago deep house sound.
