Compton born rapper, singer and producer Channel Tres is returning to Australia this year for two big headline shows this November.
After releasing a trio of EP's, Channel Tres, Black Moses and I Can't Go Outside, he's gearing up to release his highly anticipated full length record Real Cultural Shit, which is set for release later this year.
He'll be performing at the Metro Theatre on Tuesday 22nd of November and 170 Russell in Melbourne on Wednesday the 23rd of November. Tres will be delivering his undeniably groove worthy blend of hip-hop and dance music, where he takes inspiration from the bass lines of Chicago house and rhythms of Detroit Techno, with the laidback confidence of West Coast hip-hop.
The first taste of Real Cultural Shit landed in the form of funk-infused single Just Can't Get Enough, which embodies the decadence and glam of the decade by sampling Teddy Pendergrass. The single, and his recent releases encapsulate a new era of music, a more techno-inspired record for his day one fans.
In 2019, he played the Lansdowne Hotel, which we described as "a show that reminded us of the need to acknowledge dance & hip-hop's diverse beginnings... The performance was more than just a showcasing of his work, but an invitation to recall the black history of dance music and a reminder of its significance."
Channel Tres will also make an appearance as a part of Flume's Palaces Australian tour alongside Toro Y Moi, MAY-A, Caroline Polachek and more.
