The annual year-end celebration has pulled out major stops, and it's only the first line-up announcement
West Australian year-end festival Origin NYE has unveiled its first line-up announcement for 2016, with celebrated US hip hop star Chance The Rapper leading the charge of acts headed to the Claremont Showgrounds this New Year's Eve.
Chance will touch down on Aussie shores in the wake of his widely acclaimed third mixtape, Coloring Book, which he released back in May and quickly became the first-ever album to chart on the Billboard 200 based solely on streaming results. Clearly not content only being an incredible songwriter and performer, he's branching out into promotion, having just announced a festival of his own — the Magnificent Coloring Day — featuring Lil Wayne, Skrillex, John Legend and others as part of his Magnificent Coloring Tour in the US this September, the Aussie leg of which entails his Origin performance.
Joining Chance The Rapper for Origin NYE's 10th-anniversary shindig will be lauded DJs Chase & Status — their fifth time at the festival since 2008 — as well as grime torchbearer Jme, Dutch trio Noisia (making their first return since 2007), fresh Splendour alumnus What So Not and many more.
The 10th Origin NYE festival, held as always on 31 December (a Saturday in 2016), is already shaping up to be its biggest outing yet; check the full first line-up announcement below, and stay tuned for further details.
