Spend a weekend getting to know the man beneath the hat
Foxtel music channel MAX is shoring up to spend a weekend with Ian 'Molly' Meldrum in celebration of the Aussie icon's whopping half-century in the music industry.
Taking place over the weekend of Saturday, December 6, and Sunday, December 7, Meldrum aficionados will have the chance to relive 50 years' worth of Molly moments from his time on shows such as Countdown and Hey Hey It's Saturday, with a dedicated look at the life of the man beneath the hat with Sunday's special airing of Molly Meldrum: The Artist's Story.
The Artist's Story is the first authorised biography — with narration and input from Meldrum himself — to document the man's colourful life and career, featuring interviews with some of the stars whose careers he has helped and with whom he has become personally close over the years, including Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Barnes, and former Hey Hey host Daryl Somers.
"Molly has been a highly valued and loved member of the Foxtel family for many years," Foxtel's general manager of music channels, Rebecca Batties, said in a statement. "Most recently, viewers of MAX have benefitted from his unrivalled knowledge and passion for the world of music. Foxtel and the subscription television industry are proud to support and celebrate his great achievement with MAX dedicating an entire weekend of Molly programming capturing the iconic Australian music man who has never stopped being a music fan."
