The North American rhymesmith will be here at last this April & May

Canadian hip hop veteran Madchild is making good on his initial plans to tour Australia late last year by announcing a run of make-up dates for this April and May, now that the visa issues that plagued the potential for his original visit have been sorted.

With clear entry into the country now sorted, Madchild will bring a slew of classic material along with the new jams from most recent LP Silver Tongue Devil from 28 April, when he gets under way at Newcastle's Small Ballroom. From there, the Canadian rhyme-smith will hit up a pair of all-ages shows in Sydney (UTS Underground, 29 April) and Adelaide (Fowlers Live, 30 April), before kicking it back into 18+ mode for his final three shows of the tour, in Brisbane (The Triffid, 4 May), Perth (Amplifier, 6 May) and Melbourne (Warehouse 4, 7 May).

This will be Madchild's first visit to the country since his packed-out 2014 tour alongside his long-time backing outfit, Swollen Members, but the venerated performer is no inexperienced up-and-comer; he's been cracking away at the rap game since the mid-'90s, and has collaborated with the likes of Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli, Insane Clown Posse and even Nelly Furtado in the ensuing years as he has continued to develop and hone his skills to the standard at which they exist today.

Madchild will be supported on his Australian sojourn by Adelaide MC Mastacraft, who has reasons of his own for celebration at these shows; he'll be launching new single Elephant Man, which incidentally enough features his headline host in a guest spot of his own.
