Team Behind Closed Sydney Live Music Venue To Open New Bar

Freda's closed its doors last month.

The team behind now-closed Sydney live music venue Freda's will open a brand new bar and creative space this month.

The popular Chippendale venue closed its doors on 21 November after operating for nine years, however David Abram and Carla Uriarte have been quick to announce Cafe Freda's - "a new vision and offering centred around food, wine and creativity".

The new venue, situated in Taylor's Square on Oxford Street, intends "to continue in this spirit showcasing some of the best local and international DJs".

"Whilst we were sad to have to close our Chippendale space, Freda's more than anything was about creating a bar for like minded, creative and free spirited people, and Cafe Freda's allows us to continue to do this, albeit in a slightly different format," Abram said.

"We may not operate a late night dance bar and venue for the time being however culture, music, and congregation is still central to our purpose and we are excited to be pairing these ideas with some delicious food and wine on one of the world's great night-life streets."

Cafe Freda's will officially open on New Year's Eve with music from Freda's residents, DJ Crabby and DJ Salami & friends.
