In a band and wanting to increase your fan base? Then you’re in luck – a New York MTV digital music strategist is offering a free online course aimed at helping local and international bands build large, fan-based communities.
Run by MTV digital music strategist, Amber Horsburgh, the two-week online Skillshare course, titled Build An Audience, focuses on three key elements of building a large fan-based community: 1) knowing your audience; 2) creatively packaging your content; and 3) focusing on the media that matters. Horsburgh, along with music technology evangelist Brenna Ehrlich (MTV O Music Awards, CNN Tech, Mashable), will use the DIY success story of Seattle-based rapper Macklemore (pictured) as a case study throughout the course.
“It teaches you how to find an audience and create amazing content that speaks to them as well as engaging the media that matters,” says Horsburgh. “At the end of the course one student will be chosen to have a home page feature on MTV Artists”.
The course is ideal for new artists, managers, promoters and publicists starting out or those already established looking for tools to analyse their audience profile. It is totally free and your opportunity to get insights from an MTV music strategist and gain exposure on MTV.
Build an Audience runs from Dec 5 – Dec 12, 2012.
